In his most recent appearance on Tucker Carlson’s show, Mark Steyn, at one point, said of members of the Congress: ‘These are very strange people’.
Only people who are, shall we say, ‘Out Where The Buses Don’t Run’ will run for office these days because they care not a wit for the preservation of their own Dignity. They have no Shame, no desire to act Honorably. The accumulation of Power And Control and/or Fame [ultimately empty in the grand scheme of things though they are] is all that matters to these Misfits. This is the opposite of Virtue, which enough citizens of a country must possess if it is to maintain Freedom and Ordered Liberty.
Who can blame well-adjusted people [like, say, the vast majority of conservatives] from refusing to enter the mental asylum that is Politics these days?
Unfortunately in The West these days, the song is no longer, it seems, titled Only The Strong Survive, but, rather, Only The Strange Survive.
God help us [although methinks The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost have already caught the last train for the Coast].
Divine Providence shines only on those who earn it. And, tragically, it is only with Divine Providence that Constitutional Republics can survive.
